Being good at prospecting while being a real estate agent is simple, it’s not easy.  The toughest part for me is saying no. I’m saying no to all the other distractions that happen when you’re prospecting.

Lately I’ve been prospecting for my cell phone and the problem I’m running into is I get text messages or I get calls and I have such a hard time saying no to answering those.  It might be about a pending deal, it could be one of my buyers, it could be a seller I want to provide the best service I possibly can and sometimes that means saying no now so that I can accomplish a goal in my business that will benefit everyone in the end.of mine who’s freaking out. The point is I don’t know why they’re calling in that drives me crazy. In this day and age everybody expects that you will get back to them immediately. I want to provide the best service I possibly can and sometimes that means saying no now so that I can accomplish a goal in my business that will benefit everyone in the end. It really does benefit everyone, if I happen to find a buyer for that seller who’s calling they’re going to be very happyIt really does benefit everyone, if I happen to find a buyer for that seller who’s calling they’re going to be very happy that I did. If I happen to find the listing that fits the buyer who’s calling they’re going to be very happy that I did. The point is with out continuing to prospect and giving into those distractions you don’t know what you’re missing while you’re prospecting and that’s something you can’t get back.

Most of my clients most of the other agents I work with most of the people I know if they are calling about something important they are going to leave a message and in my voicemail I tell people I will call you back around 2 PM or once before the end of the day. People know when I’m going to get back to them.  The prospects that I’m missing by giving up my prospecting time to deal with people who are calling texting interrupting me in some sort or anothe from what I can tell the only way I’m able to combat this is to turn my phone on airplane mode dial from another number where I’m not going to get phone calls or at the very least I’m unlikely to get phone calls and just go to town r I’ll never know if those are listings, I’ll never know if those are buyers only because I didn’t make those calls. The possibility that I’m leaving a million dollar listing on the table or 100 million dollars in business because I’m just about to meet somebody who would completely change my business  is an amazing opportunity and I would hate to miss that.

From what I can tell the only way I’m able to combat this is to turn my phone on airplane mode dial from another number where I’m not going to get phone calls or at the very least I’m unlikely to get phone calls and just go to town. Yeah there’s a chance that I might miss an important phone call from an agent who just noticed the house is burning down, honestly though what can I really do about that? I would have to call the fire department because their job to put out fires. My job is to prospect without that I am unemployed and keeping that on the top of my mind is the best way to keep going.
